Happy Thanksgiving
Thankful. One word, two syllables, eight letters, yet a million meanings behind it. Being thankful is a huge part of my life and here is why.
Almost 9 months without my father and I miss him more everyday. I am thankful to have had him for as long as I did and to have created all the memories we share. I know that I was so fortunate to have such a special person in my life and I will always be grateful for that.
When you lose someone you realize who your true people are. I have learned who is a true friend as those people have provided continuous love and support. They have provided a shoulder to lean on and an open ear to listen. For that, I am eternally grateful to have people who are willing to be there for me 24/7.
When you lose someone you see life through a different perspective. Every little thing doesn’t matter. Every plan, party, clothing item, accessory, whatever it may be, does not matter in the end. It’s all about the people you meet and the experiences you have shared. I have learned to never take life for granted and to be thankful for every breath I take.
It is so important that we hug our loved ones and tell them we love them because life can change in the blink of an eye. Say “I love you” when you get out of the car, say “I love you” when you leave the house, say “I love you” when you hang up the phone. Those three words can express so much gratitude and comfort.
Again, that word, thankful, has a tremendous impact on my life. I only hope that everyone can acknowledge something they are thankful for. Even if it’s just getting out of bed, going outside, eating your favorite food, anything. The small moments in life we don’t even acknowledge because we’re adapted to them as generic actions.
I encourage you all to take advantage of this day. The day we give thanks and have the day off to spend with our loved ones. Treasure every moment of it because I would do anything for another thanksgiving day with my entire family. But, I am grateful that I did and have those special moments to remember.
With that said, savor the time spent with family and be thankful for everything you have and all the people you have to share it with. Happy Thanksgiving. Sending love to all.
